Exciting NEW Features Available Now!
Friday, June 19th, 2009This month we’ve started work on a new wave of features to our live blogging platform! Week-by-week you’ll see dozens of enhancements and new things appearing. It’s all part of our committment to be the premiere live publishing platform out there today.
Desktop Notifier
Now you can follow any of our live blogs on your desktop leaving you free to surf to other sites, answer emails, or pretend to work while ensuring you don’t miss a moment of the action.
With one click you can install and launch our notifier application and see updates popup instantly in the bottom right corner of your screen. Click on an update, and the full post or image opens in your browser.
Our Desktop Notifier is the newest way to keep up with your event. We built it on the Adobe AIR platform to ensure it’s compatible with Macs and PC’s.
Embed Settings
Change the colors and style of your embeds to perfectly match the style of your site.
On Deck Comments
Running a Q&A session where you want to pick the best of the comments coming into moderation, and post them later? Now you can click the
icon in the “Comments in Moderation” box to reveal the On Deck area. All writers will have access to the area so you can work together, but the public won’t see posts until you’ve approved them into the liveblog stream.
Shortened URLs
Need an easy way to add your live event to Twitter or another social site? Grab a shortened URL of your event
More statistics
Keep track of how many live watchers you’ve had, number of posts, and number of comments in real-time.
Custom Statistics
You can now add your own Google Analytics account ID and we’ll take care of putting the code on all your pages. Also, now you can choose to display whether your watchers can see how many live watchers you have, or keep it to yourself.
Image Uploading
Posting an image is now even easier with multiple images at the same time, a progress indicator, or just put the URL of an image (ending in .jpg, .png, .gif) in the post box and we’ll pull it in for you.
Share Sidebar
Help your watchers get the word out there using an social bookmarking site, as well as tweeting your shortened URL.
And more!
We didn’t stop there! You will find lots of other features and fixes across the site including the following additions to the embeds:
- Scale font size
- Easy to find RSS link
- Auto-translate to 20 languages
- Toggle viewing comments on/off
- Customizable sounds
If there’s any other feature you would love to see this summer (and trust me, LOTS more on the way) please drop us a line on our Support site (oh yeah, that’s new too).
Happy liveblogging!

VIDEO: New Image Uploading Features
Tuesday, June 16th, 2009Here’s a great new video Matt put together that shows off our new image uploading features. Basically, it’s easy. Really easy. SUPER easy.
As well as uploading multiple images from your harddrive at the same time, you can now post URLs of images (ending in .JPG, .GIF, or .PNG) and we’ll suck them right in for you. You can also put in Flickr, Twitpic or YFrog page URLs, and we’ll pull in the images too.
Let us know what you think! Happy liveblogging!
